What Is the Philosophy Behind Jen’s Approach?
The quote on Jen’s homepage embodies her core philosophy: healing happens when we let go of the old, adopt healthier thoughts, and rebuild our lives. This process brings more peace within, allowing us to feel free. Jen’s work integrates Somatic Experiencing (SE) and other transformative modalities to help clients create lasting change in their bodies, minds, and spirits.
What Is Somatic Experiencing (SE)?
Somatic Experiencing is a scientifically backed, body-centered therapy that focuses on healing trauma and emotional stress. Grounded in Polyvagal Theory, SE helps release trapped trauma responses, such as fight, flight, or freeze, and restores your body’s natural balance.
Rather than reliving traumatic events, SE guides clients to reconnect with the body’s sensations, helping them resolve stress responses and restore calm, self-regulation, and emotional resilience.
Dr. Peter Levine, the creator of Somatic Experiencing, emphasizes that trauma isn't about what happened, but about what remains in the body and nervous system. SE helps process these trapped sensations without needing to revisit the details of the trauma.
Unlike EMDR, SE works with the sensations and feelings beneath your experiences, rather than focusing solely on specific memories, making it a unique approach to deep emotional healing.
Do You Accept Insurance?
Jen offers receipts for out-of-network reimbursement depending on your plan. She is licensed in both Connecticut and Florida, and as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and as a coach, she works with clients nationwide.
